Getting ready to dig - visiting 'awkward' sections of the route!

Route Walking 'awkward sections' with B4RN's Hannah and James

On Tuesday July 26th, Andy, James, Hannah, Jonathon and Liz met at Crook Memorial Hall, Crook's fibre headend.

The aim of the day was to walk the 'awkward' sections of Crook's B4RN fibre routes with James and Hannah from B4RN ahead of the contractor starting.

Hannah and James advised that awkward sections is where the fibre duct route traverses rocks, steep ground, road, wall and stream crossings, existing cables and stock - especially cows

... that is all of it!

Happily nothing that we showed B4RN was too much of a challenge and they have solved numerous, similar scenarios on previous projects 💪😊

Here are some photos from our day.

Marking out the site for the chamber cabinet and highlighting the oil pipe.

Discussing chamber siting from St Catherine's Tower, Route 1 passes lots of rock!

Wall crossings and siting BT's cables with David Foster, and an opportunity for a little route optimisation into High Lees ...

Testing steep slopes down to Slackberry Lane - would the Mole Plough really be able to handle this?

Stream crossings ...
