Thursday 26th January:
Tony and his team finished ploughing and digging the main and minor routes to Crag and Frank arrived to blow the fibre, 1400m from Crook to the Crag chamber!
Tony and Graham's secret weapon, the digger, has been essential for
digging the route to Crag (... I wish I had one of these for my garden).
The boulder clay that fills this upper part of the Lyth valley contains countless large rocks and boulders, every few metres, hidden at shallow depths beneath the green grass of the sheep meadows. It has made for very difficult conditions for the plough.
Thank-goodness for the wonderful plough contractors working on the Crook project.

Tidying up around the gate
I am glad that the volunteer team didn't have this trench on our dig programme!
